Fantasy Sphere 2022 Status Report
Overgrown Ruins
Oh no, nothing happened since last update that also said nothing happened. I just want to let you know I’m still here. To not make it the same empty email, as I made last year, let’s talk about what I have been doing this past year.
Freelancing. I have been freelancing. To gather funds for Fantasy Sphere. And to buy food. Less important, but that too.
And whenever I had time, I was working on my own multiplayer games framework. Which is part of my other endeavor to make a living – by creating a multiplayer web games portal. But all that is just to support making RPGs and eventually maybe something closer to MMORPGs. I fully realize I have a long road ahead of me, but that’s fine. I have been at this for half my life now, I think I will stick to it.
Did I say all this in the last status report? Oh. Let’s move on then.
What’s Next
I now fully know what I want to do as the first public thing for Fantasy Sphere. And it fits nicely with all the other things I’ve been doing. I want to create a shared multiplayer online web casual game experience.
I’ve talked about it in the last status report and in the website, but to pad out this status report let’s talk about it some more.
I want to take the town part of the Heart Of Harmony game, which is meant to be the first RPG in the Fantasy Sphere universe. Part of the game occurs in a town called Dotfal. I want to create that town as a lively town full of NPCs, and the way I want to go about doing that, is to gradually add more things to it – activities, buildings, stuff happening.
And as I go, I will publish these updates, they will be playable. And it will be multiplayer experience, so you might see other players there. Maybe. I’m not entirely sure how it will go, but I don’t plan on focusing on combat at first, probably not even quests, though they are likely to come eventually. And we will see where it goes.
The main goal for me right now is to have something to write about in the next devlog, because this has been my dream for a long time, and it pains me to see it just idling away, but with the amount of work I have, freelancing and my main project, there’s not enough time.
I’m going to publish something next year, even if it’s just player characters moving around a flat map. I promise.
